A minimum budget of $1,000,000 was set for the project, but Fargo agreed to cover up to $100,000 if need be, should the project fall short, and the campaign's was set at $900,000, the largest target for any Kickstarter project to date. On March 13, 2012, the Kickstarter page for the production of Wasteland 2 went live. On MainXile further announced that Andrée Wallin joined the project team as a concept artist for Wasteland 2. The game's official website was launched on March 5, 2012. Mark Morgan, who created the soundtracks of Fallout and Fallout 2, was also hired as a composer for the project. Andre had also joined the development team for Wasteland 2. Throughout February and March 2012, it was further announced that original developers Michael Stackpole, Alan Pavlish and Ken St. In February, 2012, Brian Fargo announced that Wasteland 2 would be funded via a Kickstarter project.
However, Anderson later departed the company in January 2011. In March 2009 it was announced that Fallout creator Jason Anderson would work at InXile as a creative director on a new role playing game which might be Wasteland 2. On June 21, 2007, in an interview with fan site Duck and Cover Brian Fargo said, "I am indeed looking into bringing back the game that spawned the Fallout series. In 2003, InXile (founded by Wasteland 's producer, Brian Fargo) acquired the rights to the Wasteland title from Konami, which held it in relation to the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise.
